Two small birds landed on the fence directly in my line of vision as I watched the lady in the large dog side of Loch Haven Dog Park in Hoover, Alabama gracefully transition from one Tia-Chi move to another.
Annie and I had entered into the small dog side, but she quickly became bored with me throwing rain-soaked balls and asking her to fetch them. I had deferred to this side because there was a large white dog and a black lab mix already inhabiting the other side (beloved members of the Tia-Chi lady’s family). When I asked her if her dogs were friendly, she replied that the white one plays a little rough but has never hurt anyone. That was all this overprotective dog owner needed to hear.
Annie’s longing look at the other two dogs won over my reservations and into their side we went. I struck up a conversation with the Tia-Chi lady and she told me how she came to own Kelly and Jessie.
Kelly, the big white one, had been acquired from a shelter. The owner wished she had more information about the training Kelly had obviously received prior to being surrendered. She discovered that upon saying “enough,” Kelly would stop whatever he was doing, go a little distance from where he was, and sit down.
Jessie, the black lab mix, was rescued as a puppy by her son from a man who had her in a box at a cemetery (supposedly because he liked to take pictures in that setting). The Tia-Chi lady explained Jessie arrived two days before she had surgery, so it was terrible timing for her and I pointed out, “Wonderful timing for Jessie!”
Prayer:  Holy Spirit, quicken me during times when Satan draws near so that I can tell him “Enough, in Jesus Name!”
Job 1:6-7
One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them.  The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”  Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it.”
James 4:7-8
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.
